Educator Resources - Grades 3 - 4

Maximize the educational impact of your field trip experience by taking advantage of the free resources developed by the Center for Aquatic Sciences at Adventure Aquarium. Use these essential tools to engage your students before, during and after their visit.

THE BIOLOGIST'S DAILY ROUTINE FIELD TRIP ACTIVITY GUIDE
Our easy-to-use activity booklet is designed to engage your students during their field trip. They become assistant biologists as they travel around the aquarium, focusing on the science and math involved in taking care of over 8,500 aquatic species. The activities align with several PA and NJ Science Academic Standards, as well as Next Generation Science Standards (see inside back cover of the booklet).

STUDENT SCAVENGER HUNT
Our self-guided Scavenger Hunt is geared towards students in grades 3 and 4. The topic, Adaptations, highlights some of the animals that live at the aquarium and unique adaptations that help them survive. It is designed to slow students down so they can experience exhibits and animals more thoroughly, offering questions that encourage creative thinking and careful observation to answer.

TEACHER EXHIBIT COMPANION
Our Exhibit Companion for grades 3 and 4 includes activities to prepare your students for their visit and to reinforce their educational experience when they return to their classroom. The topic, Adaptations, will highlight some of the animals found in the aquarium and the adaptations they display. Included are descriptions of the exhibits that will be the focus of this Exhibit Companion and the animals they contain, as well as discussion questions about animals and their adaptations.

CHAPERONE GUIDE
Our Chaperone Guide for grades 3 - 4 provides guidance, structure and supplemental information for chaperones during their visit to Adventure Aquarium. The topic, Adaptations, is about several aquarium animals and their adaptations. This Guide will allow your chaperones to provide the "extra" to your students during their visit - facts specific to each zone and various exhibits.

EXHIBIT RESOURCES
Our Exhibit Resources are designed to take you and your students to a deeper level while exploring our most popular exhibits. Each guide includes background information, activities and additional sources for further investigation and discovery.

ANIMAL FACT SHEETS
Is a dolphin a mammal or fish? What’s the difference between an alligator and crocodile? Why do sharks have so many teeth? Find the answers to these questions and more in our collection of Animal Fact Sheets. Each is full of information that can be used before or after your field trip to help your students understand more about the animals that are found at Adventure Aquarium.
