Discover the Delaware Youth Engagement Program

The Center for Aquatic Sciences has partnered with Camden County Parks, Cooper’s Ferry Partnership, New Jersey Natural Lands Trust, New Jersey Conservation Foundation, Camden County Municipal Authorities, Urban Promise, Independence Seaport Museum, and Upstream Alliance in a program funded by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to bring outdoor on-water education to the youth of Camden City, Camden County and Philadelphia.

The Discover the Delaware Watershed Youth Engagement Program is focused on engaging youth in middle and high school grades through in-class and on-water experiences on the Cooper River and Delaware River Back Channel, as well as through conservation service projects and conservation career exploration.

The Delaware River Watershed teems with life and provides drinking water for 15 million people. American watersheds are fragile ecosystems constantly under threat and worthy of our support. Through personal and community actions, a healthy watershed can be maintained. This program aims to empower the public through meaningful nature experiences and personal interactions to conserve and reuse water and to advocate for the protection of its source.
